Book 2: Chapter 86: Fu Yingying's Request

“I must have sensed it wrong…”

Shaking his head, Min Jiangtao dismissed the thought and strode toward Zhang Xuan’s room.

With matters here settled, it was time to return to the Zouyi Dynasty; otherwise, who knew what actions his teacher might take in his absence.

Unaware that Min Jiangtao had sensed the aura of his breakthrough, Zhang Xuan turned his gaze to his Dharma Aspect.

Ordinarily, a Ninth Level Source Pool Realm cultivator\'s Dharma Aspect would stand at a modest height of 12 feet, emitting a faint cyan hue reminiscent of a ghostly apparition. While it carried an imposing aura, it lacked any aesthetic appeal.

In stark contrast, Zhang Xuan’s Dharma Aspect stood a towering 24 feet tall and radiated a pale golden hue. It was majestic, akin to a divine being descending on clouds, making it impossible for anyone to entertain thoughts of resistance at a single glance.

“Why does this look so different?”

Zhang Xuan mused, pondering aloud, “Could it be related to breaking the 999-horsepower barrier?”

Though unsure of the exact reason for the golden hue, he suspected it had to do with his comprehension of the Pathos of Heaven Fate.

As the Dharma Aspect merged back into his body, he sensed his Divine Soul becoming even more solidified.

Previously, his soul could traverse far at night but needed to remain close during the day. Now, he felt it could safely roam a radius of hundreds of miles. Even strong astral winds would find it difficult to disperse his essence.

Nevertheless, he remained cautious. Leaving the body unguarded was a risk; without physical protection, a cultivator skilled in soul arts or Fate manipulation could easily destroy him. His lifeless body would then be utterly defenseless.

He recalled the instance with Ling Buyang. The man had attempted to kill Zhang Xuan by using his Divine Soul to leave his body—only to meet his demise at the hands of Sun Qiang.

“Young Master, Pavilion Master Fu is waiting for you in the guest hall…”

Sun Qiang walked over, his cultivation evidently improved. He had broken through to the Detached Realm, radiating a deep and boundless presence with his tidal wave-like aura.

Zhang Xuan concealed his cultivation and strode into the guest hall, where he saw Fu Yingying sitting quietly. Her gaze seemed distracted, lost in thought.

The past few days had been turbulent for the entire Hanyuan City. Many attributed Emperor Han Qianchou’s demise at Elder Min Jiangtao’s hands to offending the Mo Dao Sect. However, Fu Yingying knew the truth—this was undoubtedly linked to “Ling Buyang.”

First, Fu Zhaoting was slain, and someone collected the bounty under Li Yue’an’s name before killing Li Yue’an himself. The sequence mirrored how Han Qianchou killed Mo Qing, claimed his reward, and was then eliminated.

To suggest that "Ling Buyang" wasn’t involved? Even she found that impossible to believe.

Still, since he chose not to bring it up, she kept silent as well.

Though "Ling Buyang" seemed gentle and harmless in daily interactions, his ruthlessness in action was unmatched. Even Fu Yingying dared not offend him lightly.

“Pavilion Master Fu…”

The gentle voice startled her from her thoughts. She turned to see "Ling Buyang" standing before her.

After just a few days, the vice hall master’s demeanor had deepened, his presence becoming even more overwhelming. Despite masking his cultivation, Fu Yingying instinctively knew that if he wanted to, he could kill her with a single slap.

Hurriedly, she stood up, cupped her fists, and bowed. “Vice Hall Master Ling, I have urgently procured 150 Destiny Disks as you requested and brought them here.”

She gestured to the side, and Zhang Xuan noticed the stack of Destiny Disks piled on the floor.

“Excellent!”

Zhang Xuan nodded repeatedly, feeling delighted. Having just exhausted his Heaven\'s Fate Energy, this timely delivery felt like a pillow offered to a drowsy man.

Although 150 disks weren’t much, they would suffice for the time being—as long as he refrained from upgrading his Pathos of Heaven Fate or enhancing his Tidal Wave Momentum.

With a casual wave, the disks disappeared into his New World. Turning, he signaled Sun Qiang, who approached with a warm smile. “Pavilion Master Fu, here are three billion Source Coins…”

Thanks to gambling and scavenging, Zhang Xuan had amassed a considerable fortune. Though three billion was a hefty sum, it wasn’t beyond his reach.

“This…”

Fu Yingying hesitated before bowing again. “Vice Hall Master Ling, if you would assist me, consider these Destiny Disks as a gift.”

“Assist you?” Zhang Xuan asked, puzzled.

Fu Yingying explained, “To be honest, I am also a Destiny Master and cultivate the Fox Charm Fate. This particular path requires me to beguile young and gifted individuals to advance. The greater their talent, the more I progress…”

Zhang Xuan was taken aback. Though he had known she specialized in Fox Charm Fate, he hadn’t expected its cultivation method to be so peculiar.

“So, does your request pertain to this Fox Charm Fate?” Zhang Xuan asked.

“Yes,” she admitted, biting her lip. “I hope Vice Hall Master Ling will accept my charm and accompany me back to my clan!”

“Accept your charm? And return to your clan?” Zhang Xuan was stunned, shaking his head fervently. “Apologies, but I have principles…”

What a joke! For 150 Destiny Disks, she expected him to go along with this? Ridiculous.

Fu Yingying flushed and quickly explained, “You misunderstand, Vice Hall Master Ling. What I mean is… I hope you can pretend to be charmed and accompany me back. Once I inherit the Fate, you are free to leave. Besides, with your willpower, even if I tried, I doubt I could truly charm you.”

She was right—she had attempted it multiple times, even resorting to borderline indecent methods. Yet he remained as oblivious as a blind man, leaving her utterly frustrated.

“No, I truly cannot help,” Zhang Xuan declined firmly.

His wife was in the backyard! Accept her charm and leave with her? Was he asking for death?

Fu Yingying’s expression turned anxious. “Please, Vice Hall Master Ling. The clan selection is in half a month. If I fail to find a suitable candidate, I’ll lose all chances of inheriting the Fate…”

“That’s your problem, not mine,” Zhang Xuan replied. “Besides, doesn’t your charm technique work best on younger, more talented individuals? I’m far too old and unfit for such criteria.”

Currently masquerading as Ling Buyang, a man close to fifty, Zhang Xuan’s Ninth Level Source Pool cultivation was impressive for Hanyuan City. However, in the Zouyi Dynasty or broader regions, he would hardly be considered a genius.

Fu Yingying scrutinized him and gritted her teeth. “Vice Hall Master Ling, I suspect your identity is a facade. Your true age is likely under thirty, correct?”

“What makes you think that?” Zhang Xuan frowned.

Taking a deep breath, Fu Yingying explained, “Everyone knows Wanchang Sect has an unparalleled intelligence network. But the black market’s information is just as reliable, if not superior. If I’m correct, you’re not Vice Hall Master Ling. You are Zhang Xuan, the genius from White Rock City!”
