I, The Dragon Overlord

Chapter 670: Descend, O Crawling Chaos

Chapter 670: Descend, O Crawling Chaos

Yet, this horde, large enough to annihilate a country, was being held off by just four people.

An elder from China vividly demonstrated the true essence of "Shenzhou Kung Fu" to the world. It wasn\'t some showy routine practiced by old men in parks; it was authentic and extraordinary martial prowess. With each sweeping motion of his hand, dozens to hundreds of monsters were torn to shreds.

Though the elder\'s power appeared unremarkable compared to the eye-catching supernatural phenomena, the visceral impact of each blow, capable of blasting a hole in a skyscraper hundreds of meters away, left onlookers in awe.

There was also a nun from the Catholic Church who didn\'t possess martial arts or mystical skills like the elder, but she relied solely on divine miracles granted by Christ. Under the blinding light of holiness, the monsters were silently purified.

For the first time, the Japanese priest showcased his extraordinary powers. This priest had previously summoned Amaterasu Omikami at the Ise Grand Shrine, and that Shinto deity had appeared in North America, defeating Typhon as it emerged onto land.

Now, this priest displayed the onmyoji’s art of yin and yang.

Due to the cultural proximity between Japan and China, where the concept of yin and yang also originated, the priest\'s techniques resembled the elder\'s magical arts. However, while Chinese magic seemed like ancient ritualistic sorcery, the onmyoji’s techniques focused more on the balance of yin and yang. Although not as broad in scope, they excelled in specific areas.

As the priest chanted spells, a pentagram formed in the air. From it emerged elemental beings of various shapes—some beast-like, some humanoid.

If a mage from San Soliel’s world were present, they would recognize these as elementals of air, earth, fire, and water, though in the hands of a Japanese onmyōji, they represented the "shikigami" of metal, wood, water, fire, and earth.

“Is that the shikigami of an onmyoji?”

“Look at that! That’s the power of our Japanese master onmyoji—Like a peerless fierce tiger and a mighty dragon in the wind.”

“That beautiful shikigami looks like a snow maiden, right?”

“That spider is like a Jorogumo!”

“There’s a human-faced tree and a bakeneko!”

“Is this a shikigami encyclopedia or a showcase of Japanese yokai?”

“I’ve watched a lot of anime, and I recognize quite a few of these monsters.”

People from Asian countries engaged in discussion, while those from Europe and America shouted excitedly as they recognized some of the shikigami.

The shikigami summoned by the priest were incredibly powerful. Monsters like the Byakhee, who could leap through space, or the swift-moving ghouls, were no match for them.

After summoning dozens of shikigami, the priest did nothing but command them in battle.

“Priest, please summon the Twelve Divine Generals of Abe no Seimei for us to see!”

“The Twelve Divine Generals? You mean those with the Azure Dragon, White Tiger, Vermilion Bird, and Black Tortoise?”

“Those are clearly the sacred beasts from China.”

“No, they’re the shikigami of the great onmyoji Abe no Seimei!”

“...”

The downside of cultural proximity was evident in such disputes. An online war broke out between Chinese and Japanese internet users as if their earlier friendliness had been a facade.

Even Europeans and Americans understood the tension—similar to how the English might claim Joan of Arc as one of their own, sparking outrage among the French.

Aside from these three extraordinary individuals, a monk from Southeast Asia also demonstrated his divine power. This dark-skinned, skinny elder suddenly transformed into a wrathful deity, with multiple arms extending from his back, each wielding a divine weapon glowing with golden light. He charged into the monster horde, cutting down countless creatures with the movements of his many arms.

Despite his emaciated appearance, suggesting a fragile "mage," the monk was unexpectedly a "warrior" like the Chinese elder.

“Doesn\'t this look like an online game? We’ve got a summoner, monk, priest, and warrior, all acting as if they’re mages, clearing a dungeon.”

Someone joked online. Though it seemed somewhat disrespectful to their powers, many watching the scene thought the commenter was right. It really did look like an adventuring party grinding through monsters!

As heated discussions erupted, the battle in the ruins of Seoul reached a critical point.

Thanks to the four superhumans, the monster horde—once powerful enough to destroy a nation—was now suffering catastrophic losses. Corpses piled up, their twisted forms too numerous to count. Green, filthy, viscous blood soaked the ground, transforming Seoul into a slaughterhouse for monsters.

Although the monsters continued pouring through the enormous gate in the sky, their numbers were no longer keeping pace with the slaughter. The visible decrease in monsters across the city was obvious to anyone watching.

While some monsters escaped into other parts of the city, a coalition force from North Korea, China, and Russia advanced 40 kilometers into Seoul.

Although human soldiers would face heavy casualties in a large-scale battle against the monster army, dealing with these scattered stragglers was manageable. Small military squads, armed with cutting-edge weapons, methodically hunted down the surviving monsters, aided by fighter jets from North Korean airfields and armored ground forces.

This sight lifted everyone’s spirits. They believed Seoul\'s liberation was imminent. Civilians trapped in the ruins, waiting for rescue, were hopeful. Some cheered, others prayed, and many cried out in joy as soldiers saved them.

Sister Mirda smiled warmly, filled with joy, but the other three superhumans remained grim.

Because everyone but them had forgotten about the evil god behind the gate.

Just as the flow of monsters dwindled to a trickle, an eerie, otherworldly breathing echoed through the heavens and earth.

Crack—

The phantom gate solidified, its rippling curtain transforming into a glass-like structure. A section shattered, and a single tentacle emerged from the broken void. Its aura of decay, corruption, and pure malevolence spread across the planet like toxic fumes!
